Did some mind-blowing research on Wilhelm Reich (you know my thing for the outsiders...Doesn't get more "outsider" than him) and gave a paper at the Medical School to a small group (doz.) of devoted Reichians. My academic career is nothing if not...weird. But in a good way. Boston is cool. I was there 20+ years ago...And I get the sense that parts of it will never change. Any city with graveyards in the heart of downtown can't be all bad. Brookline and around where the Med. School is located is quite upmarket. The essence of America bourgeois.
