That is a beautiful photo. Being a native of Puerto Rico, I’m always thrown for a loop when I see pines at the shore. :)

@Aggie: Thanks! The pines around here — Vancouver Island — are awe inspiring…Cedars and Douglas Firs the size of apartment buildings.

What struck me at first glance was the darkness and the contrast, but after reading your dialogue above I am fascinated by the trees. Beautiful.

Old growth rainforest is a sight to see. Nothing else like it on earth.
