Went into downtown Toronto today to check out the Gardiner Museum. One of Canada’s foremost galleries devoted to ceramics, this exhibit, focused on Mexican representations of the “day of the dead” (dia de los muertos), was an inspired and eclectic mix worthy of the name. Made the idea of animism comprehensible in a visceral and intimate sense. If you happen to be in or around the T-dot in the next little while, it’s highly recommended.
Also had my own encounter with the spirits of the past, revisiting old haunts at U of T. A strangely convergent experience, all in all.
